Drink Up: Film Inspired Drinks from Hendrick’s

Film Stirred
Sometimes the best way to escape the Summer heat is in your air conditioned home watching movies with your friends. We were inspired by some films we watched while doing just that and created this Movies and a Drink playlist of sorts.

Pretty in Pink Gin Fizz
Inspired by one of the greatest movies of all time (totally not hyperbole!), Pretty In Pink, this cocktail will whisk you away to a time when someone may have thought Molly Ringwald’s dress was gorgeous and Jon Cryer was our not-so-secret dream boy we wanted to take out of the friendzone.

Ingredients:
• 2 ounces orange juice
• 1 1/4 ounces Hendrick’s Gin
• 1 tablespoon Simple Syrup

2. In another glass, combine Hendrick’s Gin, simple syrup, and pink grapefruit juice
3. Slowly pour over orange juice
4. Top with seltzer

Romeo+Julep
OK, we take it back, Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo+Juliet was probably the best movie ever made and the love story was the best ever told. You’ll fall instantly in love with this drink inspired by the moment you fell in love with Leonardo DiCaprio for the millionth time.

Red Riding Basil Smash
In this swell of summer, watching Red Riding Hood, a movie that takes place in the dead of winter, is just what the Mixologist ordered.

5. Double-strain into a rocks glass filled with ice, squeezing every bit of liquid through a fine mesh strainer with bar spoon

Give the glass a stir and add more ice if necessary
7. Garnish with a basil leaf

Midnight in Paris 75
Inspired by Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris and the French 75 cocktail created at the New York Bar in Paris circa 1915, the drink has such a kick to it that you’ll feel like you’ve entered Woody’s mind. Trust us, it’s a place you want to be.

• 1/4 oz. simple syrup (or 2 tsp. superfine sugar)
• 1/4 oz. lemon juice

Iron White Lady
Meryl Streep’s portrayal of Margaret Thatcher inspired this drink. Strong willed but a little bit sweet, the cocktail most popularly known as the White Lady, seemed like the perfect compliment to the life of the first female Prime Minister of England.

• Two parts Hendrick’s Gin
• One part Cointreau
• One part lemon juice
Directions:
1. Mix the ingredients in a shaker half full of ice
