First Look: Band of Outsiders Spring ’13

Not sure if Aziz Ansari feels the same way (he was just a few seats down from us), but this shibori dye blazer-short combo from Band of Outsiders is one of our Fashion Week favorites.
The inspiration for the show was Battle Royale, a horror movie that’s basically the Japanese version of The Hunger Games, and it came through in face warpaint (courtesy of Dick Page for Shiseido) and this traditional dyeing technique unique to the Asian country.
It’s the second horror movie reference in a day–the first, as you may remember, was Carrie for the hair at Prabal Gurung–and we are now just waiting for someone to cite Drew Barrymore in Scream as inspiration and our day will be complete.
