No, there were no turbans at the Prabal Gurung spring ’13 show. At least, not on the runway.

But backstage, DIY turbans covered the heads of more than a few models (this one was snapped by our backstage photographer Zac Sebastian). The reason? To keep the hair, which was sleek and slick (a la Sissy Spacek in Carrie), from getting messed up while the models got their makeup done.

And while our getting-ready routines don’t involve nearly as many people running around, it’s a good trick to use the next time you’re prepping for a big night out (or, you know, work). If you decide not to take it off when you leave the house, well, that’s cool too.
