While most collegians are busy this time of year sharpening their pencils and hitting the books, five very lucky, very talented students at NYC’s Fashion Institute of Technology are gearing up for something worlds beyond homework and tests: their winning designs for renowned fashion jewelry company CAROLEE have been produced for sale and are being shipped to leading retailers around the world.

The design competition, sponsored by CAROLEE and FIT, had four key categories central to the brand: Pearls, Metals, Fashion and Bridal/Social.  A fifth “People’s Choice” winner was voted online through a Facebook contest with videos of the student’s designs, which CAROLEE implemented throughout the spring.

And the winners are: Palwasha Iqbal in the Fashion category; Yoonji Choi in the Pearls category; Prakshi Sharma in the Social/Bridal category; and Christine Gonzalez in the Metals category. Collections are available for purchase now at Bloomingdale’s and other top department stores and at carolee.com. The People’s Choice winner is Elyse Spencer, whose pieces will be available in store in November for the holiday period.

For each piece of the FIT winning designs sold, CAROLEE will donate $5 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
