Diary of a NYFW Buzz Band

Fashion Week isn’t just about clothing–often, it’s as much a jumping board for bands as it is for the designers and models featured throughout the week. (Examples: Grimes or Natalia Kills at last season’s festivities.)

This year’s band-about-town was The Indecent, a New York City-based four-piece that plays rock’n'roll like Kurt Cobain never died.

We’re already big fans–so when the band said they’d be running around Fashion Week, we asked them to document their front row stops and after-party visits. Lead singer Emily Brout did just that, snapping photos and writing captions throughout the week. Keep reading for all the details.

Here’s my outfit [photo above] for our first Fashion Week event, the Pencey presentation at the Grey Lady on the Lower East Side.

Here’s Maddy’s outfit! She’s wearing a Pencey dress with a white button down shirt under it. (Basically doing her best Alexa Chung impression.)

This is a horribly lit picture of the Pencey presentation (sorry guys!). The clothes were amazing and the models made us feel really short.

Our favorite looks were these three. Menswear + leaf print = the best thing ever.

The next day we headed over to the opening of the new Emporio Armani flagship store on Madison Avenue, where the Drums, Skylar Grey, and Ladyhawke were playing. Although we all feel extremely underdressed, Maddy is really excited because she just saw Ryan Lochte and she (un-ironically) finds him hilarious.

Here’s Bo examining his goodie bag over sushi afterwards. We then mistakenly left said goodie bags in the restaurant and the waitress had to ran after us in the street …oops…

The next day we had a day off. This a picture of Maddy wearing an extremely unfashionable outfit, [looking] really sad in band practice because she thought she broke her phone and lost all of the pictures she had taken over the weekend so far. (Conveniently, as a band the only phones we own are cell phones and 50 year old film camera’s given to us by our grandfather. It’s time one of us invests in a real digital camera.) She is also extremely tired from lack of sleep. Fashion Week is exhausting!  Things lightened up when she got to go home and watch the new Doctor Who.

Luckily, Jonathan at the Upper West Side Apple store was able to recover the pictures!

The next day we played at the V&M Rock Shop party at The Darby, and while we were there we got the first physical copies our EP that comes out September 18th!! If you can’t tell, we’re excited.

You should be too–get more info on The Indecent here.
