Exclusive Video: Behind the Scenes at VEDA
A Backstage Look: VEDA SS13 featuring Ulla Reiss from VEDA on Vimeo.
VEDA gave NYLON the exclusive to their new video, “A Look Backstage.”
VEDA’s founder and designer, Lyndsey Butler, told us all of the details and inspiration surrounding her new video, “A Look Backstage.”
DIRECTOR’S CUT:
Filmmaker, Alexander Klein, directed our “A Look Backstage” video. I love any opportunity to work with him (not ONLY because he is my boyfriend!)
ROLE MODEL:
We were really excited that we booked Ulla Reiss for the presentation and then a couple days later she was featured as Model of the Week by Models.com. This season we really wanted to find a way to highlight the beauty aspect of the show. Ulla’s naturally cool look was perfect for the video because we wanted to make to show off the sexy, undone makeup from Bobbi Brown, the modern punk hair do we had created with Arrojo Studio, and the cosmic goth nails from Butter London.
THE SET:
The lighting backstage at The Bowery Hotel was a mix of moody and natural warmth, which was perfect for highlighting the backstage beauty prep.
THE LOOK:
We worked closely with the stylist Emily Barnes from The Wall Group to create the beauty looks from a wide array of inspiration including, but not limited to: Kate Moss (duh!), ancient Indian body painting rituals, and ’90s Juergen Teller.
In the meantime, you know you want a new leather motorcycle jacket from VEDA for fall, which you can get right here.—RAY SIEGEL
