The Face: Prada Spring ’13

It’s hard to notice anything but the glasses models wore in the Prada spring ’13 show, but it’s worth checking out the rest of the beauty look because, well, we think we’ve found the perfect party-girl hairstyle.

We’re dubbing it the reverse mullet, because it’s business in the back (prim French twist) and party in the front (wispy strands that fall somewhere between a mohawk and bangs).

It’s not the first updo of Fashion Week–click here if you haven’t read our guide to doing them without inflicting serious scalp pain–but it’s one of our favorites. And we’ve got the easy three-step process, courtesy of Redken’s Guido Palau.

1. Just like putting on makeup, some hairstyles require a bit of prep work. In this instance, get some volume on your strands before you pin them up by spraying on Redken’s Quick Tease 15 and then backcombing it–mostly around the roots–to give the hair texture and height.

2. Gather the hair at the nape of the neck and twist up to form a French twist. Secure all but the ends with pins.

3. Instead of tucking in the ends, leave them hanging forward. To make sure that they don’t shift when you move, spray with Redken’s Forceful 23 super-strength hairspray.
