Miike Snow needs no introduction, but Jean Noel might.
He’s a character dreamed up by video director Andreas Nilsson, who directed three of the videos from the band’s most recent album, Happy To You. For his fourth Miike Snow appearance–in “Pretender,” directed by Vern Moen–Jean Noel is left to fend for himself at Hard Festival in L.A.
Think of it as Borat for electro-hipsters, since the only people in on the joke (if you’d call it a joke) is Jean Noel and his videographer. The reactions from audience members–who, yes, interact with Jean Noel–seem real and honest, which makes it all the more fascinating as a music video. And as for the song?
