Check out the outfit Sarah Hyland wore to our party with Forever 21 celebrating both NYLON’s October It issue and the Hello Kitty Forever collection.

It’s not easy to show up an adorable–instantly recognizable–cat, but the Modern Family actress manages to do just that with her striking look. What we love about her outfit is how she’s not afraid to take risks (we have long been fans of dark lipstick) but avoids falling too deeply into goth territory with some very smart balancing. Going with a bold lip color? Pair it with a girly ballerina bun. Edgy mini-skirt? Wear a super-feminine collared blouse.
