I didn’t see My Week With Marilyn or Take This Waltz, Michelle Williams’ movies from last year.

But I have seen her latest work–appearing in Wild Nothing‘s music video for the dream-pop track “Paradise”–and I’m glad I did. Yes, it’s five minutes and 29 seconds (unheard of in the world of music hits, I know), but it’s also cool and strange and beautiful…just like Williams herself. I mean, there’s a spoken word interlude with Williams speaking lines from Iris Murdoch’s 1975 novel “A Word Child” and it doesn’t come off as totally cheesy. Um, Oscar?!?–REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
