We’re not sure about you, but our Friday night is already looking pretty awesome. First, it’s up to the Bronx, to the Paradise Theatre to see The xx, then we’re heading down to Brooklyn’s Autumn Bowl (an actual skate park, not to be confused with the actual bowling alley that is the Brooklyn Bowl), for the after party.
But this is not some kegger in a basement…
Rather, it’s a summit of some of the premier names in electronic music: Elgo Records founder Floating Points and Kerian Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet will be dropping their melodic brands of electronica during back to back DJ sets, and are joined by wunderkind Jamie xx—the kind of producer who makes anything he touches turn to gold.
What’s more, the event is free, part of the Red Bull Music Academy’s series of shows. (They have another show the next night, Saturday October 27, featuring Grace Jones. Yes, that Grace Jones.) We’ll be mixing ours with vodka. –ALAN LOPEZ
