We’re used to seeing Marion Cotillard in sweet, ultra-feminine Holly Golightly-esque dresses, little French bangs swept to the side, and “barely there” makeup.

And don’t get us wrong– we love that look, and think she pulls it off better than anyone.

That said, we we’re excited to see her change it up a bit, spotted last night at the Los Angeles premiere for her film Rust and Bone. Wearing an ultra-mod black and cream Dior dress with sexy little strappy platform sandals, the French actress looks very fresh and high-fashion, without looking dramatic or harsh.

And–side note–we officially like this season’s high/low asymmetrical hemline much better than last season’s asymmetrical one-sleeve dress. Agreed? — ALI HOFFMAN
