Are We The Only Ones Who Like K. Stews in A Tracksuit?!

You kinda knew that last night’s 12.12.12 concert was going to be insane–I mean, Paul McCartney acted as Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s 1 a.m. performance.
But what seems to be getting the most attention the day after the Hurricane Sandy fundraiser is what Kristen Stewart wore onstage. Yes, it’s the middle of December. And sure, it got a little chilly out last night. But whatever–we were really into the outfit. And here’s why:
First of all, she’s wearing Jonathan Simkhai, the up-and-coming designer (and native New Yorker) whose pieces are a far cry from Balenciaga. They’re for cool skater girls, not chic Parisian women–so needless to say, we’ve long been a fan of his collections.
Second of all, it’s not fall ’12 Jonathan Simkhai, it’s not spring ’13 Jonathan Simkhai; it’s pre-fall ’13 Jonathan Simkhai. Which means that Stewart is basically wearing a piece fresh from the sewing machine that won’t be hitting shelves until around May. So baller.
Third of all, it’s matchy-matchy in a way that’s totally not annoying. Instead, we’d imagine wearing the outfit to the show, then to a bar, and then to our couch where we’d stay up until 3am watching Girls. You could probably fall asleep wearing it and still be comfortable…and then roll out of bed the next morning and not bother changing. It’s the furthest thing from what we imagine A-listers wearing–and yet, that doesn’t seem to phase Stewart.
So if we’re going to take sides, we have to stand with Stewart on this one: viva la up-and-coming designer tracksuit. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
