It’s been 10 years since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs released Fever To Tell, their debut album that turned them into indie stars thanks to the omnipresence of “Maps” (and also the fact that everything else on it is pretty rad, too).
I’m going to repeat that again: 10 years.
And after Show Your Bones and It’s Blitz, the latter of which came out more than two years ago (remember, Karen O was on our 2009 Music Issue cover!), we’ve got some new tunes from the New York City trio:
That’s right, the band is putting out their fourth album, dubbed Mosquito, which is slated for release April 16. Nick is back on guitar, Brian back on drums, and Karen O back in front of the mic. They’re saying that they took a much more lo-fi approach to songwriting.
And in addition to releasing the album art, which totally looks like it could be the cover to a new Goosebumps book, they also released a teaser trailer, in which we learn that Karen O is now a peroxide blonde!
Watch it below, and then tell us on a scale of one to 10 just how excited you are about this release. (For the record, I’m at about 100.) –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
