DIY Gel Mani

We know it hurts to hear, because gel manicures  are so perfectly glossy and they last for weeks, but the process is horrible for your nails. The good news is that Deborah Lippmann’s new system mimics the gel mani exactly—it gives you the same finish, the same long wear, and minimal dry time. The even better news is that it’s not a pain to remove (it’s easier than taking off glitter polish). Like all of her other polish shades, the gel coats are infused with ingredients that are actually healthy for your nails: aucoumea, green tea extract, and biotin. So, it’s about time to say goodbye to your manicurist and your at-home gel lamp. She’ll miss you, but your nails will look better than ever. It’s available now at Deborahlippman.com.—RAY SIEGEL

I have read wonderful things about this series of nail care on every site that recommends or sells it, but 4 out of 5 reviews claim that although the top coat is nice, the manicure will chip and “peel” seriously, in three days maximum. One out of four will say how amazing it is. I am not up to paying 50 bucks for a nail duo that will only downgrade my nail situation. What is the real story? I wonder.
