Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About The New Strokes Album

After The Strokes released the song “One Way Trigger” last week (listen here!), we were left wondering if this meant a new album was in the works.

Well, yes and no–a new album isn’t just in the works, it’s ready for a March 26 release.

Here’s what you need to know:

The album’s called Comedown Machine and it’s being released March 26. Album number five, people, which means that when they released Is This It in 2001 it really wasn’t it.

We bet that the next song off the album is “All The Time”–a Seattle radio station announced earlier this month that they had their hands on a new Strokes song but were being nice and waiting to release it. They might as well set it free now and share it with the world (i.e. us).

There’s no word yet on a tour, but we also bet that there will be a slew of dates coordinating with the summer music festival season…starting with SXSW? Coachella?! If you’re a fan, it wouldn’t hurt to book your tickets now just in case.

Last but not least, album art? Yesterday frontman Julian Casablancas tweeted a photo with the caption, “From the new LP….”

Soon after he added, “Considering different artwork tho, better?” with this pic.

So which is it? Neither–apparently this super simple, throwback cover (scroll all the way up) is what Comedown Machine is going to look like. Put in your pre-orders now! –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
