Lizzy Caplan x Viva Vena Is Pretty Funny
We love our fashion films here at NYLON HQ, but sometimes they can feel a bit…derivative. The gauzy Super 8 film, the contemplative girl, the boho outfits.
Which maybe explains why we’re obsessed with Viva Vena–Vena Cava’s sister line (where nothing retails for over $159)–and its new fashion film, featuring total girl crush Lizzy Caplan.
It’s not because the film does something totally different…but because it does exactly what we’ve seen a million times before, only with a wink-wink, nod nod. We don’t want to give away any of the oh-so-quotable lines (okay, how about one: “Sometimes I think to myself in French and listen to old records from the ’60s; they’re way better than stuff today–more authentic”), but it might be the very first deadpan fashion film that’s created for an actual clothing line and not for FunnyOrDie.com.
And if it does its job and makes you want to make Viva Vena your own? It hits stores like Asos and Nordstrom later this month. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

This is incredible and such an accurate commentary on the perception of today’s youth. Also comical that this is targeted towards the audience it mocks. LOL

I thought this was hilarious! I’ve been in love with Lizzy C since Mean Girls. Also, that Godard poster, oh my God, I am obsessed with him & every film he has created.

The only way this could be better is if the girl came on and said ‘I have to pick up my spawn from daycare’.
