Best Dressed: Liv Tyler
There are so many reasons why we love Empire Records, but a big one will always (and, probably, forever) be the outfit Liv Tyler wears throughout the 1995 cult classic. Cropped blue sweater, short plaid skirt, scuffed lace-up boots…it’s practically iconic. So when we saw what Liv Tyler wore to the Proenza Schouler fall ’13 runway show, we couldn’t help but think that she had managed to find a way to modernize Corey Mason’s look.
The cropped sweater is now a turtleneck, the plaid skirt has morphed into a technicolor skater, and the boots are replaced by black booties. But the overall vibe–cool girl who you totally want to be friends with–is still there. Here’s how you can embrace your own 21st century Corey…though you’ll have to provide the “Sugar High” soundtrack yourself.
