Music Premiere: Tying Tiffany

Pax Paloscia
Music may be global, but there are just some spots where we expect our bands to come from. New York? Duh. London? Of course. Paris? More and more. But Italy? The country may excel at fashion and food, but besides the Italo-disco boom there aren’t many bands we can point to by name.
Which gives us all the more reason to listen up to Tying Tiffany.
The Padua-born stunner has been performing for nearly a decade, sharing the stage with the likes of Iggy Pop and The Rapture, but only in the past year has she left her mark on this side of the Atlantic. One of her tracks (from her other band T.T.L.) was featured in The Hunger Games’ trailer, and she’s got a new EP One slated to be released on March 12.
Sonically, Tying Tiffany is like the goth daughter of an Italo-disco titan–yes, her music’s electro-pop, but with a dark edge. Think Crystal Castles at their most upbeat or The Knife at their most straightforward. There’s no need to wait to hear it: We’ve got Tying Tiffany’s new single, “One Second,” and it’s yours to download for free. Let the Italian invasion begin! –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
