Best Dressed: Leigh Lezark

We go through a lot of photos every day while choosing our Best Dressed, and it’s easy to get lulled by the perfectly styled red carpet looks or the off-duty model styles that we’re now seeing on more than just, you know, off-duty models. And then we’ll spot an outfit that’s so cool, so quirky, so unexpected that it kind of makes us want to throw out all of our black leather jackets and drape-y silk dresses and get weird.

And that, in a nutshell, is how Leigh Lezark’s look at yesterday’s Katie Grand for Hogan party in Milan made us feel. There’s nothing typical about it–the shirt is a bit oversized, the skirt hits her just above the knees (is this the new cropped pant?), and the heels are total statement-makers. And yet, it somehow works. Here’s why: For one thing, the DJ-turned-It Girl isn’t dressing for anyone other than herself, and you can tell just how pleased she is with this ensemble. Never underestimate the power of confidence.

But there’s also the fact that the outfit is, in many ways, simple: She’s paired a color (in this case, a peachy beige) with a neutral (here it’s black). You could go with cobalt blue and camel, neon green and white, or hot pink and gray, and as long as you incorporated bits of both colors throughout the look the end result would be the same.
