The Oscars is a huge night for fashion, but The Independent Spirit awards happened over the weekend too. We are an indie mag after all, so what better spirit to celebrate than indie one. So many indie film makers and stars sported looks we liked even more than their Oscar getups, and better yet, would actually wear all of them. Sophia Copploa—she’s basically the indie film queen—stole the show in her matching brocade situation. She might be Italian, but she has French-chic down pat. Django Unchained actress Kerry Washington wore a mixed floral print Giambattista Valli couture dress and her also floral Louboutin shoes couldn’t be a better fit in this mix.
Arbitrage star Brit Marling wore an amazing Valentino dress—there’s nothing we like to see on the red carpet more than a collar.
Zoe Saldana wore Dolce and Gabbana stripes with white pointy-toe shoes (obviously the shoe of the moment) and we kind of want to live in this look all summer.
