Editor’s Pick: Uniqlo x GVGV

You know those brands that are so cool, so perfect, so you that it feels like someone tapped into your brain and excavated your clothing wishlist?
For me, that’s GVGV. The Japanese brand is like Proenza Schouler without the uptown vibe, and for the nearly two years I lived in Tokyo I feverishly followed their latest designs. And then I came back to New York, and besides the occasional dress hanging at Opening Ceremony, I’ve been out of luck.
So yeah, that was me shrieking way too loudly when I found out that Uniqlo was collaborating with GVGV on a capsule collection. The pieces fall somewhere between ultra-feminine–think floaty shorts and cinched button-down dresses–and uber-utilitarian (whether it’s a color-blocked blouse or a zip-up bomber jacket that is totally the new varsity jacket). And the prices are all under $70–which I don’t have to tell you is way cheaper than a ticket to Tokyo.
The GVGV x Uniqlo collection hits stores today. No Uniqlo near you? Shop the entire thing online right here. Then let me know if you want to join my “Bring GVGV to America!” campaign. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS
(And in case you were wondering, here are the pieces I am definitely getting. Yes, probably in multiple colors. Can you really blame me??)
