The Face: Marni Fall ’13

Cushnie et Ochs’ fall show featured lips that we thought looked “chocolate stained” (a MAC makeup creation) and over at Marni’s fall ’13 show in Milan MAC struck again with another equally delicious lip stain: it’s unmistakably red wine. Since its an Italian house, we’ll call it Chianti colored instead of Bordeaux.

What’s interesting about the look isn’t necessarily its pretty color; it’s that lips were not even a little bit perfectly painted on. They were the opposite actually—super messy, but sexy nonetheless. The downside of actually drinking red wine is that it stains your teeth, but MAC makeup artist Tom Pecheaux was careful not to go that messy.—RAY SIEGEL
