Whether you like it or not, we’re entering crop top season. After seeing them everywhere during spring ’13 Fashion Week, they were practically the SXSW uniform in Austin last week.

Now forget everything you may think about going short–it doesn’t have to be synonymous with trashy. Just look at Diane Kruger’s outfit for proof. The actress wore a Carven button-down crop to an event for The Host, and she hardly looks like she should be popping open a PBR and pulling on a trucker hat. Instead, she looks her usual perfectly pulled together self. It’s all about proportions; here, she balances out the curtailed top with a mid-length skirt, so there’s no skin overload. Could you wear this to the office? Well, we’re not sure it will work everywhere, but we’re going to try it out ourselves…here’s how we’re interpreting Kruger’s ensemble:
