The Next Coco Chanel

The last time Karl Lagerfeld made a Chanel movie, it was so pretty and fashion-y that we nearly wept. So we’re pretty excited about his next one set to be released at his resort show in May: Keira Knightly will play the role of Coco Chanel .
The upcoming film will honor the first Chanel boutique to open 100 years ago in Deauville, France. It marked the beginning of Coco Chanel’s move away from hatwear design into women’s sportswear. It was also the beginning of a non-corset centric wardrobe for women. The “Chanel Look” became synonymous with comfort after so many years of wearing clothing that was really uncomfortable. So you see, even more to celebrate than anniversaries and general Chanel awesome-ness. We think Keira will make a great Coco.—RAY SIEGEL
