The Girls Finale Drinking Game

Friday, March 15th, 2013

The bad news: Season two of Girls wraps up this Sunday.

The good news: We’ve figured out a way to not be so depressed once the show is over.

How? A Girls Season Finale Drinking Game! Here are the rules:

Drink Up: Mulled Wine

Friday, January 25th, 2013

With blustering winds and almost-Arctic temperatures, this winter is definitely calling for wine–a call that most of us have on speed dial. Flavors of holiday festivities, including nutmeg, cinnamon and apple cider are infused together in Robert Mondavi Private Selection’s Coastal Crush Mulled Wine to create both the taste and feel of warmth that not even a shirtless photo of Ryan Gosling can replicate.

To save you from a night of watching the latest episode of Girls in your snuggie, we’ve got the recipe to help you combat the cold:

Life’s A Ball (Jar)

Monday, December 17th, 2012

The first Mason jar was patented on November 30th, 1858; and lately, Pinterest has inspired us to use these quintessential glass jars to display everything from dried fruit and spices to wax candles and knick-knacks. So we took it upon ourselves to find another use for these all-purpose jars! If you’re playing hostess, forget the customary cocktail glasses and – just this once – employ mason jars as a clever and delightful way to serve up your favorite holiday elixirs, like this “Winter Punch” from Hendrick’s Gin.

Girls Who Like Boys: BYO Like A Don

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

We went to a holiday party this weekend that served eggnog—yuck. To avoid unwanted alcoholic drinks you might want to bring your own booze this season. Just make sure your container of choice won’t offend your host.

A thank you to NYLON Guys, for pointing us towards this J. Crew croc flask fit for Don Draper himself.—RAY SIEGEL

Prepare For Takeoff

November marks Aviation History Month, and we’re ready to celebrate the friendly skies– sans airports, boarding passes, and luggage carousels.

Here’s our flight plan:

Take a cue from Amelia Earhart’s style by buying this faux-leather trench coat we’ve been lusting over.

Reread The Little Prince.

Invite friends over and serve them “The Aviation Cocktail,” a sweet-meets-citrus refreshment made with Hendrick’s Gin, lemon juice, and maraschino liqueur.

Check out the recipe after the jump, and we hope you enjoy the flight!

Tequila!

Friday, November 9th, 2012

First of all, TGIF. Second of all, Tequila! We’ve had two horrible storms this past week—forgive us—but after work, we’re throwing a few back.

Here’s our recipe for a really fun, but probably debaucherous  Friday night:

In a shaker with ice, add: 2 oz of Peligroso Silver Tequila (the good stuff), 1.5 oz of Cointreau, half of a fresh squeezed lime, four oz of fresh cranberry juice, and .5 oz of agave nectar. Shake it and pour our your yummy, wintertime margarita. We recommend pairing it with a giant  pile of nachos.

Girls Who Like Boys: Bottoms Up!

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

In honor of the weekend, today’s edition of Girls Who Like Boys features this new flask.

Because what’s better than one that has two of the three things you need to start the party? The only thing missing is something to drink.

We’ll leave that part up to you–what’s your drink of choice? To start things off: I’ve been all about the tequila lately (don’t laugh). And if you want to make the Shot Flask yours, click here for details. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

DVF’s Water Works

Friday, November 2nd, 2012

If we’ve learned anything this week, it’s that water is a real precious commodity.

Evian’s new collaboration with Diane von Furstenberg just drives that point home. The soon-to-be-released bottle, designed by DVF herself, features the repeating phrase, “Water is life is love is life is water is….”

Incredibly prescient, yes–but if you’re going to stock up on water it might as well be a really, really pretty bottle. (Also, bonus points for the screw cap and 100-percent recycled packaging.) The bottle hits shelves November 5 at www.shop.evian.us. If you take the bright red heart to, well, heart, you might want to bring a few of them to your nearest evacuation shelter to help those in need. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

Victor, Victrola

Tomorrow (October 20th) marks National Suspenders Day!

Though initially invented for men to wear with trousers cut too high to wear with a belt, we’ve seen countless examples–from the Rag & Bone runway to Annie Hall– of women sporting the two-strap look.

So to celebrate this remarkable holiday, we’re clipping on a trusty pair, putting on our best bowler’s hat, and mixing up an equally chic drink, a Pink Victrola.

We’ve provided our recipe below, and highly recommend you join in on the festivities….
