it’s national bagel and lox day!
Thursday, February 9th, 2012Yes, it’s random.
But no, we’re definitely not complaining.
Breakfast, anyone?

News Flash: Tomorrow is National Sweater Day.
Okay, so turns out this is technically a Canadian holiday (started by The World Wildlife Fund Canada). But who are we to get bogged down by technicalities?
The best part about this holiday: The folks behind National Sweater Day are so gung-ho about it that “to make sure you put one on, Grannies are standing by to personally call and remind you.”
Plus, considering it’s currently snowing in NYC, we’d probably wear a sweater tomorrow anyway…
Tim Doyle might be our new hero.
The artist and cartoonist has taken some of the most recognizable TV hotspots and transformed them into a illustrated road trip in his new exhibition Unreal Estate.
Featuring everything from Bluth’s Frozen Banana stand on Arrested Development to The Simpsons’ staple Kwik-E-mart to even famous stops on Sesame Street, it’s the coolest concept we’ve seen in a while.
Tim, next time can you do the locations on Boardwalk Empire? Or Bored to Death? Or Shameless? So many options….
See the exhibit at San Francisco’s Spoke Art Gallery.

In case you’ve blocked it out,
let us remind you that Valentine’s Day is officially one week away.
No, this does not mean you should run the streets in a mini skirt in search of love.
But if you happen to have a new beau…
And you’re totally stumped on what to get him…
Nerd Valentine is here to save the day!
From hipster temporary tattoos to red ear-buds,
this tumblr is dedicated entirely to helping you find the perfect v-day gift.

Last week we hit the Lomography store in NYC to preview the latest camera, the “Virginia is for lovers” La Sardina.
Now the limited-edition style is officially available to buy online.
Sure, it’s just in time for Valentine’s Day.
But did we ever really need an excuse for even more lomo love in our lives?

We love French photographer Lise Sarfati because she doesn’t sugarcoat things, as we’ve seen from her past exhibits like the gritty roadtrip saga The American Series.
Now she’s upped the ante with her latest project She, which follows sisters Christene and Gina and their daughters Sloane and Sasha through the tough parts of being a girl.
With themes like isolation and identity running through the series, Sarfati proves that growing up isn’t exactly pretty.
But then again, that’s what makes her work all the more amazing.
