Best Dressed: Chloe Moretz in McQ

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

chloeWe weren’t the only ones who swooned hard for Sarah Burton’s Fall 2012 McQ collection.

Emma Watson, Kristen Stewart, and Victoria Justice have also sported the goth, burnished style on the red carpet.

Our favorite take so far is on Chloe Moretz:

Here she is in a red velvet dress with a floral burnout pattern, cinched at the waist with a black chain belt.

And while we think the 15-year-old would look just as great in boots as the va-va-voom footwear she’s chosen to pair with the outfit, it’s cool – everyone has that one pair of major shoes that they just have to wear at least once.

Also, we applaud Moretz’s restraint with makeup.

It’s tempting when wearing a regally punk look to play up the eyes with some smudged charcoal liner, but keeping the face bare makes Chloe look fresh, smart, and in control of her look, as opposed to the other way around…

gaga

Gaga is serving up a major Ginger Spice/Dolly Parton/Versace moment while she pageant-waves in Taipei. We kind of love it (and her lavender nails, too).

Special Delivery: Buy Bethany’s Urban Outfitters Collab!

bethany for urban

You probably know by now by (since we told you so!) that

1) we love Best Coast long time

2) we love Bethany Cosentino

3) Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino designed a collection with Urban Renewal and we love that, too.

The collab has been making the blog rounds, but in case you missed it… we had to let you know that the wait is over! You can officially buy it all (and with names like Rayanne/Cher/Elaine/Stevie/Liv we just might buy it all)… until it sells out, that is.

The Wedge Sneaker Goes Pink

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

egThis should be a “Separated At Birth” post comparing Ash’s popular “Bowie” wedges with Isabel Marant’s catwalk versions, which sell for about $700 and have been spotted on [insert-every-street-style-celeb-you-know-here].

But instead, it will be about how now, you can get the sneakers in pink.

They also come in blue, red, beige, and violet.

And unlike the Marant versions, they’re $250 and not sold out… yet.

Best Dressed: Laura Bailey in Chanel

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Laura BaileyMeet Laura Bailey, longtime British model and writer, and certified Chanel junkie.

Here she is at Versailles, wearing a Chanel ensemble including a cream silk shirt, a matching tie with a floral brooch, a black velvet skirt with cream piping, and a very gigantic pair of red shades.

We love this look because it’s a great example of Annie Hall Chic, updated for the current day.

We also love it because even if you don’t have a closet jam-packed with Karl Lagerfeld creations, you can still put together a similar outfit with basics from brands like Gap, J. Crew, Tommy Hilfiger, and Denim & Supply.

As for a giant, crazy, butterfly-inspired pair of sunglasses, these ones from Lumete are pretty fantastic.

PS: If you look closely, you can see a rainbow in the fountain behind Laura.  Guess even the water likes her look!

Plus: See Cara Delevingne model runway pieces from the recent Chanel show.

Sale Away with Lacoste

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

Lacoste SwimThis summer, we’ve resolved to swim, sail, volley and take walks in the park.

Or at least we’ll look the part, thanks to this major sale at Lacoste.

They’ve got everything you need to do your best poolside Wendy Peffercorn impression, like this sick red cross-body one piece and Lacoste x Catherine Malandrino satchel, at nearly 50% off.

We’re also loving this classic white polo with a leopard trim.

So go forth and get it while it’s hot…

…and before it’s even hotter.

Behold: Mulberry’s First Sneaker

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

SA1189_977G110Considering their muses are girls like Lana del Rey and Alexa Chung, Mulberry knows they need both posh and practical offerings.

Their latest invention – The Mulberry Sneaker – is those two things combined.

The shoe mimics the shape of a standard high top, but it’s got a black-and-beige tiger print instead of the usual One Star.

And since this is Mulberry, after all, these kicks are crafted with haircalf leather, and cost $700.

(They’ve also got black and cream leather studded styles for $550, and two black-and-blooming canvas versions for $330.)

See and shop the whole collection online.

Leah McSweeney Goes to Paris With Baby-G

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

If we were visiting Paris, our first thought would be to call Clemence Poesy, Lea Seydoux, or The Plastiscines – all cool girls and French natives. But after seeing this video produced by Casio Baby-G, we’re just as inclined to hit up Leah McSweeney, the Married to the Mob designer who goes on her own little adventure through the subway tunnels and rainy rooftops of the famous city in search of The Eiffel Tower. Instead of a flashlight, she brings along this watch, which costs $99 and lights up from the inside.

Best Dressed: Kristen Stewart in Marchesa

kristen

From the front, this Marchesa dress is pretty and a little bit eerie.  From the back, this Marchesa dress is a gossamer goth skeleton embroidery masterpiece.  Nice job, K-Stew.
