Jeans of the Week: Paige Denim

WHO: Paige Denim

WHAT: The Skyline Skinny Jeans in Dusk

WHERE: Right here for $158!

WHY: Last week, I found myself at the Bloomingdale’s flagship in New York City spreading my arms wide and standing still as a weird space age-looking machine scanned my body and then matched me with the perfect pairs of jeans. (The device is called Me-Ality, and you can find them across the country–and yes, the results are incredible.) Fifteen minutes later and I had indeed found the ultimate, most-perfect-ever jeans: The Paige Denim Skyline Skinny. If you are anything like me–that is, balancing both big hips and a small waist–you will pull these on and think you’ve died and gone to denim heaven. Now that I’ve got them in Dusk (a dark, but not black, denim), the only question that remains isn’t whether I’ll wear them every day–because duh–but rather, what wash I’ll be buying next. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

Leggo My Birkin

Wednesday, May 15th, 2013

birkin

The price of an Hermès Birkin bag ranges anywhere from $7,000 to upwards of $100,000.

The prices of a “Brikin” (not kidding, that’s how it’s spelled) made of LEGOS? About $650. Sure, it’s definitely more reasonable in comparison–but is it worth it? We could really make a case for both sides. On another note, maybe it’s our DIY-crazed mind talking, but wouldn’t it be cooler if it came in the form of  build-a-bag kit?

Made by Aga Bag, a brand specializing in LEGO®-made handbags and accessories, the kitschy-cute purse comes in a wide range of colors and sizes. And just in case you were wondering/worried, the company’s site promises that “All the bricks used for this handbag are brand new, never played with, have the amazing fresh color and shine.” Phew!

Check out the full range here let us know if you’d invest in a “Brikin” made of blocks. -ALI HOFFMAN

Step On the Flowers!

Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

floral

What better way to put some spring in your step than to purchase some blooming boots or flower power sneakers? Puns and rhyming aside, floral footwear this season is not only on trend but super functional and surprisingly not too girly.

Rough it up in a pair of DM Floral Print lace-ups with the signature heavy duty Doc Martens sole in black, or don the Shakuhachi Gypsy Riding Boots whose vivid paisley and floral print would look badass contrasted against an all black or white ensemble. And if sneakers are more your poison, add the new navy and white floral Supergras to your collection – they feature chunky vulcanised rubber soles and can be tossed in the wash for a more faded vintage finish. -ELSA DE BERKER

We all remember our first time–no, I’m not talking about that. I mean, the first time you split a friendship necklace with a bestie.

For me, I was in fifth grade and my sleepaway camp BFF Chloe was visiting for the weekend. We watched Clueless, made magazine collages, and then my mom drove us to the local toy store so we could get a friendship necklace. It was, in short, magical–and not just because Chloe gave me a Keroppi toothbrush as a thanks-for-inviting-me-over gift.

Instead, it’s because there’s something weirdly deep about deciding with a friend that you’re going to share an accessory–and have it symbolize something. Maybe in our culture, where marriage is conferred with a ring, it’s the equivalent of committing to a person on an emotional level. And unlike an engagement ring, things don’t get messy when the BFF moment fades away; instead, you just take it off and put it in your jewelry box.

If you’ve already got a friendship necklace all locked up, these Home Girls bracelets from Miss Wax offer a perfect alternative–the only question isn’t who you’ll give the other one to, but which half–home or girls–you’ll keep for yourself. Pick a pair up here. –REBECCA WILLA DAVIS

We’re officially coming into bikini season and our office has long been contemplating what in fact our swimwear staples will be–That is, until now.

Bathing suit mecca Everything But Water just released an exclusive collection with Mara Hoffman. The 3 piece capsule features the designer’s trademark neon kleidoscopic print in a caftan, bikini and one-piece (our personal fave). Now all we need is a beach and a pina colada.

T-shirt of the Week: Joe Fresh

Monday, May 13th, 2013

WHO: Joe Fresh

WHERE: Joefresh.com for only $14!

WHY: Because even though there’s nothing we need less than a new striped t-shirt, we insist on collecting as many of them as possible. You never know when you’ll get sick of your other ones or when all 50 of them will be in the wash at the same time! Plus, I doubt you own one quite as French-girl cool as this Joe Fresh one!

Editor’s Pick: Dirtbag

Monday, May 13th, 2013

Every night when I get home from work I put on a pair of Sean Jean velour sweats, watch an episode of Downton Abbey on iTunes, and place a Seamless web order for some Mexican food. But now that winter is over (and I’ve finished all three seasons of Downton) I’m switching to some lighter material all around; no more velour. These Dirtbag sweatpants by Jac Vanek are the perfect weight, and, by the way, I’ll certainly be wearing off of my couch as well. As far as I’m concerned, anyone with good style can rock sweatpants as real pants.

The only difficulty will be filling the Downton Abbey void. And laying off of the Mexican. Get these sweats  in the NYLON Shop.—RAY SIEGEL

Editor’s Pick: Shorts!!!!

Friday, May 10th, 2013

We carry quite a bit of stuff from the brand Shown to Scale in the NYLON Shop—from chili-printed crop tops to tie-dye tanks—but I think these acid wash shorts are my favorite. I pretty much always wear denim shorts to the beach, and I think this pair, with their ’70s-style silhouette and drawstring waist, are a nice addition to my mostly-cut-off collection.

I am wondering though…since they look like they’ve been put through an Instagram filter as they are, what will they look like when I actually do it? Odds are: twice as awesome. Pick up your own pair here! –MALLORY RICE
