ds We’ve been obsessed with the Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing lip collection since it first landed on our desks last Spring.

And clearly, we’re not the only ones.

cat’s cradle

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

dsFirst they took over your wardrobe.

Now they’re clawing their way into your…makeup drawer?

Hot on the trail of the quirky cat-shaped lipsticks, Paul & Joe has just rolled out a feline eyeshadow palette.

Don’t let the pretty floral box deceive you — it opens to reveal three shades of extremely wearable neutrals molded into the shape of a kitten.

The shadows come in two forms; Kitty Cat is full of soft sandy browns, while Siamese Please features warmer golden shades.

Each kit has a pearly, shiny and matte shadow, so you can wear them together for a night out with friends or alone for a night in with your favorite pet (we won’t judge).

is this what winter smells like?

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012

dsCB I Hate Perfume has already concocted scents inspired by apples, librarians, and even Alan Cummings.

While all of these things are great, we’re more into a fragrance that’s right here, right now- we’re talking about the cold days, early nights, and freezing winds.

In other words, the Winter 1972 perfume that’s influenced by, yes, the season itself.

Taking cues from “a field of untouched new fallen snow, hand knit woolen mittens covered with frost, a hint of frozen forest & sleeping earth,” the 2005 fragrance is inspired by everything we love about the season.

Suddenly winter doesn’t seem so bad, after all.

Buy it here.

watch the water

DSWe first told you about this eco-friendly skincare line last year, before Stop The Water While Using Me had even hit the market.

But now the products are officially available to buy, and we’re ready to rethink our morning wake-up routine.

Each bottle of organic shampoo, shower gel, hand soap and lotion has a big, bold reminder to turn off your sinks and showers as you apply.

In return for your devotion to the cause, the company promises to use only biodegradable products and never does animal testing. And as an added bonus, all their products (except the lemon and honey hand soap) are vegan.

That’s a lot of good packed into one bottle.

Grab them at Colette, and find out more about the company here.

Emma Watson’s New Lancome Campaign

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

emma
Adding to her Lancome resume,
Emma Watson is the face of the beauty brand’s new makeup collection, Rouge in Love.

And even though the makeup doesn’t hit the shelves until February,
the campaign’s concept art just hit the web!

Maybe we’re crazy, but don’t you think these artsy drawings would make for an adorable campaign on their own?
If we were Lancome, we’d consider making these the final product and not just a concept.

the tocca test drive

dsTocca makes some of the loveliest, girly scents around that just ooze French romanticism with names like Colette and Brigitte.

They’re so great, in fact, it’s really hard to choose a favorite (especially if, like me, you suffer from paralyzing indecision).

Now, you don’t have to.

Tocca Beauty just released this limited-edition set containing seven pocket-size samples of their fragrances, which range from airy and delicate to heady and sensual, so there’s a scent for every mood.

Just in time for Christmas, it’s the perfect introduction to Tocca’s line of scents and a stellar stocking stuffer for that friend who already has everything.

Or, you know, you could just slip it into your own stocking and fake surprise. We won’t tell.

The Lipstick Personality Test

Monday, December 19th, 2011

lipstick
Some say character can be determined by a person’s handwriting.

Others claim you are what you eat.

But the beauty blog Addicted To All Things Pretty is claiming the shape of a woman’s lipstick says a lot about her personality.

Sure it sounds like a ridiculously silly claim,
but even so it’s an interesting theory, with some awesome illustrations.

Check out the “scientific” hypothesis here.
