Good Idea or Bad Idea: The Koala Bear Manicure?

Monday, March 12th, 2012

hi

It’s no secret we love nail art, and we’re delighted by Nail Rock’s latest collection, Toonland.  The set of nail wraps comes in three styles: Teddies, Cupcakes and Mixed. Stick them on and smiley-faced teddy bears, cupcakes and fruity illustrations will appear at the end of your fingers.  It’s definite cute overload; there’s no way your hands could look more adorable or happy.

You can buy them for $12 and apply them in 15 minutes or less.

But are smiley happy koala bears on your fingers really cool…

Or a little too wacky for you to wear? –CAROLYN AMURAO

estee bigTaking care of your skin is important, but it doesn’t have to be hard.

Estée Lauder BB Creme makes hydration, protection, and prevention a one-step routine with SPF 35, ingredients to brighten and reflect light on the skin, and anti-oxidants to help resist early signs of aging (after all, you don’t have real wrinkles yet – so why start any time soon?).

Oil-free and dermatologist tested, the cream comes in two shades and benefits the most important thing in your beauty arsenal – your skin.

You already know how to multitask – now your skin cream can do it, too.

Get more information – and order a tube for $38 – on EsteeLauder.com.

Nicole by OPI has just announced its Spring collection of colors, and along with the expected shades like Easter egg pinks and blues, get ready for more texture.

The brand is rolling out four more colors of shimmery “crackle” hues, like Opal (far left), Quartz, Amethyst, and Aquamarine.

You can buy them starting in April at retailers like Target and CVS for $7.99.

But until then, tell us- more than a year later since OPI first debuted “Shattered,” are you still into the texture trend?

dWant a compact that’s a bit more interesting than the boring black that comes free when you purchase makeup?

Check out these pocket mirrors from Spanish illustrator Verónica de Arriba, with drawings of girls with artfully disheveled hair that you can pretend is yours when glancing in the opposite side.

They’re palm-sized to easily slide into even the tiniest purse or pocket, or to slip into your hand and perform a subtle lipstick check.

And each has a different image on the back, making your mini looking glass one-of-a-kind.

d Everything about new fragrance Cali Blue is crisp and clean—the scent itself, the design of the bottles and the good cause you support when you buy one.

10% of sales from this eau de parfum goes toward purifying water in India and Africa.

At first sniff, the ocean-inspired spray is a citrusy blend of lemon and orange; but when it settles, it’s a mélange of spicy vanilla topped off with lavender and rose.

If the smell of the perfume isn’t enough to remind you of the beach, we think the turquoise blue color will help.

And just case you need an excuse to buy more than one, Cali Blue is for both girls and guys.

Check it out here!
