free coffee? duh.

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

dsToday is National Coffee Day.

What exactly that means, we’re not totally sure.

But we do know that a bunch of nationwide coffee chains are giving away free cups of joe.

Which means you need to head over to 7-11, Krispy Kreme, and Dunkin Donuts, like, now, and drink up!

wine

Let’s be clear: Winerd is not your typical drinking game.

Created with the intention of making wine a less-intimidating topic of discussion, this wine-tasting board game is probably a bit more sophisticated than Flip Cup or Quarters.

But then again, it’s all about who you play it with, right?

Get it here and don’t be embarrassed the next time someone hands you a wine list.

Good Idea Or Bad Idea: Chick Beer?

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

chick
We’re not totally surprised by the invention of “Chick Beer” (after all, the SkinnyGirl Margarita made fafillions).

But that’s not to say we’re in favor.

According the brand’s website, “Chick is the only beer brand designed for women.”

Translation: It’s low-cal, low-carb, and boasts a drawing of a LBD on the bottle.

Here’s the big question: Would you want to drink one of these at a party?

take a shot

shotOkay, not that kind of shot.

The website BevShots has tons of up-close-and-personal pictures of all your favorite drinks (alcoholic or not).

And trust us, they’re a lot prettier than you’d think.

Here’s proof: the image to the left is a zoomed in picture of all the different ingredients in a daiquiri….who knew it had so many colors?

You can browse all the different microscopic portraits by choosing your favorite color, drink, or ingredient.

And although we don’t necessarily need to have our go-to cocktail hanging up on our wall-all of the prints are for sale- we have to admit, it is pretty cool.

bristol palin, the drinking game?

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

hgf Thanks to Georgi Vodka, our Monday night is about to get a lot rowdier.

Vodka mogul Martin Silver is enraged that Bristol Palin has lasted so long on Dancing With the Stars- and he thinks everyone else should be, too.

As part of Silver’s new “Vodka Party Takes on the Tea Party” campaign, he’s urging bars across the country to offer free shots of Georgi vodka to anyone who votes against Palin on tonight’s episode in hopes that she’ll finally be kicked off.

Bottoms up!

whip it!

Monday, November 1st, 2010

fDesserts just grow up so fast.

Next time you reach for champagne ice cream, you might try topping it with some Whipped Lightning.

Introduced earlier this year, the booze-infused (say that 3 times fast!) topping is more alcoholic than many drinks.

At 36.5 proof, it’s basically flavored alcohol and air.

The party-ready “Whipahol” comes in ton of flavors, including Spiced Vanilla and Amaretto, as well as seasonal ones like Pumpkin Pie.

It’s billed as the perfect topping to shots and cocktails, but without trying it, it’s hard to say whether it will deliver just the right amount of kick.

What do you think — are some things better left sober?

iphoneLet’s face it: we’re all already addicted to our iPhones.

And here’s one more way to make them a little more amazing (and increase our co-dependency).

This iBottle Opener 3G from Urban Outfitters looks like a basic plastic case, but it actually doubles as a bottle opener, making it the ultimate multi-tasking machine.

The only downside?

Unfortunately, drinks not included.

$24 here.

Turn On the Red Wine

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

policeYou know that drinking game you play with the song “Roxanne?”

You know, the one where half the room drinks when they hear “red light” and the other half drinks when…?

Well, we bet the people at Wines That Rock play that game, too.

Their latest vintage, The Police Synchronicity, is a red wine named for the iconic British rock band.

Bottled in 2007, the wine has “aromas of fresh rose petals and wild berries. Flavors of juicy strawberry, bright raspberry, with a lush lingering finish… a delicious, approachable, and very food friendly wine.”

Which means if you buy it, you’ll probably want to enjoy your bottle, instead of gulping it every time Sting sings “Roxanne.”

boozy dessert 2.0

Friday, October 8th, 2010

boozeRemember when we told you about alcohol-infused ice cream, and wondered if all of our favorite “kid foods” were soon becoming spiked?

Well, here’s one more.

The new book, Booze Cakes, includes recipes for cakes inspired by cocktails like Pina Coladas, Long Island Iced Teas, and White Russians.

They’re all infused with beer, wine, and liquor, so we can’t guarantee these spiked concoctions will top the basic (non-alcoholic) birthday cakes we know and love.

But let’s just say they’re a surefire way to make your next party a little more spirited (pun intended).
