Ciao, Manhattan!
Wednesday, May 21st, 2008
As my days in NYC are now numbered, I’m trying my best to soak it all in, and wonder how much I’ll miss it here. I came to New York in the bitter cold, from 80 degree weather in Florida, knowing no one, and eagerly anticipating my internship. I hadn’t seen The Devil Wears Prada, but I knew I didn’t want my internship to relate to that! Was I really just going to be making coffee runs and walking the dogs? Well now that its just about said and done, I can say its actually been a good time. I’ve learned a lot, and can offer future interns a few bits of advice…
*First of all, if you aren’t from the city, it’s How-ston, not Hugh-ston. You’ll understand when you get here.
*Remember that graciousness and good posture never go out of style.
*If you find yourself shuffling through the crowded streets of SoHo on a rainy, windy day, with an 827lb garment bag draped over arm as you desperately try to position your hand so you can almost hold your umbrella over your head, just laugh at yourself- There are so many chicks out there who would LOVE to be in your position.
*As always: Work hard….. play hard.
Good luck to future interns, you’re going to have a kick ass time here.
Bye bye.
–Caitlin.
